Full moon is rising and laying down shadows Pale horse is riding that shows me the way It's hard to see clearly what path it has chosen But somehow I fear I won't see light of day Suddenly spirits appear in my sight Haunted by melodies lost in the night
Oooooooh, humming this song to myself Oooooooh, humming this song to myself In the darkness I'm singing out loud Facing the night when I'm frightened Oooooooh, humming this song to myself
I see a lost world, in need of redemption Volcano's bursting out, scorching the sky People are reaching for hands of salvation Forefathers help me and answer me why Suddenly spirits appear in my sight Haunted by melodies lost in the night
Oooooooh, humming this song to myself Oooooooh, humming this song to myself In the darkness I'm singing out loud Facing the night when I'm frightened Oooooooh, humming this song to myself
Dark clouds are fading, a new day is dawning This morning breeze blows the sadness away Chances are reborn in pureness of morning Unleashing the power and brighten the day
Oooooooh, humming this song to myself Oooooooh, humming this song to myself In the darkness I'm singing out loud Facing the night when I'm frightened Oooooooh, humming this song to myself
The idea was actually to turn Johnny Cash' Ring Of Fire into a punk/rock-song. However, this song emerged instead and -to me- is quite interesting. It's about a dream of Armageddon (with Johnny Cash' The Man Comes Around in mind), but the main character is not scared because he's humming this melody in the darkness. The bridge pulls him out of the dream. Written on acoustic guitars. The melody for the chorus came first, along with Mark's "humming this song to myself". Lyrically, we tried to oppose that happy-go-lucky line with all the misery and bad dreams we could think of. It wasn't really that hard to come up with. Don't we all have our moments in the dead of night fearing that the worst we can imagine is gonna happen …?
