Nick Gielen

Nick's bass-playing days started with imitating John Taylor (bass player of Duran Duran) probably because all the girls thought he was the coolest member of the band…

At age 15 he played in his first band (Five Times Silver), after that more bands followed. Most of the bands were a kind of metal band; at least it was loud and fast. After playing in the band G.R.O.S.S. (rock) he started his own group "Craven" together with his brother who sang in this band, and his sister who played the flute and provided backing vocals.

At this time he was listening to the music of Skunk Anansie, Pearl Jam and all those bands that were popular in the 90s… He started writing his own music that they performed with "Craven".

After nine years of playing with his own band, he decided to leave.

With the drummer he started a new band "Sprocket". This band played a mix of original numbers and covers. Inspired by music from Ana Popovic, Beth Hart, Aynsley Lister they dived into the blues…

In September 2010 Ralph asked Nick to join Mufkin Tass, which he felt to be a big step forward (musically) and a honor to play with these inspiring musical brothers. His love for blues will still remain but to him the diversity that Mufkin Tass brings is just great.
